Pain and Ipods

First up thank you for all of the encouraging comments, they are appreciated immensely, so thank you!

Since my walk Thursday I have had a sore and swollen joint on my big toe on my left side. It has improved over the last two days, but is still sore, so I am going to postpone this mornings walk until after work so it will get more time to heal, I finish early today so it’s a doable proposition. The toe that is giving me grief is one I broke years ago and I think its just having a bitch about having to do some exercise. Oh well no pain no gain as they say.

Meg’s comment about turning up the volume of the ipod and just doing it, reminded of the dangers of the little beasties (ipod’s that is). Sure there’s the obvious ones about not hearing cars, pedestrians and small yappy dogs and endangering ones self or someone else’s self. I managed to discover a new not so obvious danger, on Thursday morning I was powering up to a blind corner being at one with the pain when the rolling stones came on the ipod when there venerable hit “(I cant get no) satisfaction”. Well I’m just about at the corner when I decide to belt out part of the chorus, the bit that goes “Hay Hay Haaay”, unfortunately a tiny and very elderly Asian gentleman is coming around the corner from the other direction at the same time…well he packed himself and I thought a cardiac arrest was imminent. I feel a bit bad as I couldn’t help but laugh.

So note to self – try not to sing while listening to the ipod, I have three very valid reason’s for this advice (1) I sound like an animal being tortured when singing (2) it’s a very good way to make a complete tool of ones self, and (3) I could potentially scare to death elderly people on their morning “constitutional”.

On ya Tony! Walking each day is great, gives you time to think about things (clear the mind & start every day as a new day!)
